Wii Would Liike You to Play

Doing good, doing good...TLO, on the other hand, is losing the War On Flu.

After the Legomania, it's a bit of a break as I spend my lunch hours going home for lunch.

On the other hand, the projects continue at a foolish pace. Manic time is fun!

Item: I have founded the Westwood Association of Mario Kart Almost Racing (WAMKAR), a response to the release of Mario Kart Wii, which you should buy. Now!

Lunch Hour Lego, Day 4: It's an Osprey!

Lunch Hour Lego, Day 4

Mission Complete. Finishing off the two engines took about 7 minutes, so that makes the total build time about 3:07 from box-opening to flying completed model around the office making airplane noises.

After that, I decided to poke my nose into the other set I paid too much for at the garage sale, a Bionicle somethingorother.

Lunch Hour Lego, Day 3

So after 3 hours of working, I have not completed the build, but I am tantalizingly close. I don't think it gives away much at this point to say that we're about 2 steps and maybe 15 minutes of building time away from completion.

Things are coming along nicely.

Spoiler follows: this is a Technic 8434 set, and if you follow that link, you'll see what the finished product will look like.

Or you can wait and see. I'll talk more about this set and the real machine it represents after the build is finished.

This is what happens when you find Technics Lego sets at a garage sale.

Notes Regarding a Putative Olympic Boycott

I have heard there are concerns the Olympic ideals might be soiled by such activity.

Here's what I think.

1) It's just sports.
2) Not boycotting leaves the countries and athletes about as complicit as people who buy stuff made in China.

John, this isn't about your tattoo, which is very nice

But for everyone else,

My biking problem is impeding my drinking

Here's a fairly typical alcohol problem checklist. I quickly substituted "bicycle/riding" for "alcohol/drinking."

I scored an 11. Anything more than a 5 is considered a strong sign of a problem.

Things That Endure

I'm obsessed with physical objects, and in particular personal possessions. I recognize that I'm so dangerously close to collector-mania that I allow myself no serious "collectibles."

Alas, I am very willing to buy things that I deem useful. This apparently includes at least 30 Atari 2600 cartridges. Party at my place: we'll play Warlords. I have, er, two copies.
