Beer blogging, series 2: Duckstein and Young's Chocolate Stout

Well, I did a good deed for one of my aunts, and she in turn did me a very good turn by buying me some beer.

Before I go any further, I need to make one thing clear: I love new things. I seek novelty to a fault, and I like trying all kinds of new and interesting beer in the interests of educating my palate and finding a new favorite. I'd even try Steelback Tango if I could find a bottle. The fact that none of my recent tastings has displaced my beloved Unibroues is not a bad thing.

That said, I had another bottle of Young's Chocolate Stout, which is still great. It proves that a choco-beer can be more than a novelty, and I recommend it to you.

I also had a Duckstein Copper-Gold and it was . . . okay. Nothing special, I'm afraid. But still, the palate-education continues apace.

As another note, I read Lager Heads some time ago, and it was a fascinating story. I recommend it, though with the qualification that the story is better than the writing. But the tale of Canada's major breweries at that key time in their history is a fascinating one.
