Saskboy II: it's like being hated by a pomeranian, or maybe Warren Kinsella

I mean, yeah, you keep your fingers clear, but it's hard to take the threat seriously, you know?

I did give Mr. Boy the presumption of not being a developmentally disabled child (I merely said his insults were akin to those one would expect from such a source), but having read his latest attempt at thought and reason, I see that an apology is owed:

Attention developmentally disabled children: I was terribly unfair to your mental faculties previously, and I pledge that I will never do anything as risible as compare you to Saskboy again. It's pretty clear that if you were in a room with my debating partner, it would be he who was lowering the level of discourse.

At this point, I'm pretty sure Saskboy is doing my work for me. Here's his key points in that last post:

-The Roughriders mascot is a gopher.

-Nobody cares enough about Piffles Taylor Field (I am not making that up) to buy the naming rights, but a fertilizer company was willing to half-buy them.

This is apparently very important to Saskatchawanians (what a demonym), for some reason I can't fathom.

Oh, by the way, mock GM Place all you want: those naming rights meant the construction was entirely paid for with private funds, and I will always and sincerely appreciate the Griffiths family for doing that. You can't say that about the home of Gainer and The Flame.

As for visiting Regina, I have. Then I went home. That's what Vancouverites do. Saskatchewanians, on the other hand, leave their province in astounding, Irishmen-fleeing-a-famine numbers, and don't return. 20,000 in one year? Did you have a pogrom??

Sounds as if you've got

Sounds as if you've got Saskatchewan envy ~ you'd be surprised by how many of us return back to this lovely province. I'm impressed by your extensive knowledge of Saskatchewan too. Gophers and football hmmm ... poor West Coaster trying to be funny. Go Saskboy Go!!

B.C.

Just wanted to note that not all of B.C. sucks -- just most of Vancouver, and especially the Canucks.

As for Gainer not living in a privately funded palace of corporate failure, well HE'S a 7' gopher, he lives in a hole in the ground that he built himself without private or public investment.

Ha

Kind anonymous commenter: in truth, I am just following Saskboy's lead here. He tells me what is great about Saskatchewan, and I adjust his perspective!

The other truth is that I have many relatives in Saskatchewan. I have been there more than once. I have wandered through the historic sites like Batoche, and Duck Lake. I have seen the sights in those twin metropolises, Saskatoon and Regina.

And you know, I like the people there! They're my relatives, after all.

But I think the present case for living there can be summed up as low rent and inertia.

As much as I'm doing this as a joke for Saskboy's benefit, the net out-migration numbers for Saskatchewan are pretty astounding. I think I once read or figured that about 10% of the province's population was now living in Alberta.
