Sentence of the week. Heck, this is August; probably sentence of the month

"We propose a fundamental principle to be observed at the outset of this debate: Let's not try to protect ourselves from crazy people by trying to out-crazy them."

From "The Post editorial board on the Greyhound murder: The government's best policy response is to ... do nothing"

What?

Sounds - weird... The first sentence is unnecessary, but the second one is ... a bit too weird :)

Which two sentences did you mean?

The quoted sentence was from a National Post editorial on the tragic Greyhound murder.

The whole editorial is worth reading for their reasoning, but the gist is that the event itself was singular, and that several ill-informed politicians have come up with ideas for "solutions" to this probably-never-to-be-repeated event that showed a complete ignorance of how inter-city bus travel works.
